The Imperial Crown (Fritillaria imperialis L.)

It is a beautiful species of plant that, in addition to decorating your garden or your home, belongs to the genus Fritillaria, within the Liliaceae family. It is native to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey and the region of the Himalayas.

This species is very appreciated as a decorative plant. We should know that while the wild form usually flowers a red color, the crops have a wider color range, with reds, oranges, and yellows. In the northern hemisphere, the flowering of this plant occurs at the end of April or in May.

Lantana

Lantana is a genus of plants of the Verbenaceae family with more than 100 species, mostly American. It is a decorative plant that adapts to all types of soils if they are healthy. They also resist drought and exposure to the full sun very well.

The Lantana lives several years in subtropical regions, but in temperate zones, it is cultivated as an annual plant. The variety that is most commercialized is perhaps the “Lantana camera”, with red and yellow flowers. Before growing them we must bear in mind that these plants are toxic, for this reason, it is not usually devoured by herbivores or very attacked by parasites or diseases.

The Lantana is cultivated mainly as a decorative plant, for its rapid growth and its cheerful and abundant colorful flowers, during much of the year. Some species are used to attract butterflies or to favor, for example, bees and to carry out craft work.

Orange flowers: Guzmania

Guzmania is a plant that dies after flowering in summer, but a new plant can easily grow later and spread from the tips that appear when the mother plant dies.

This beautiful plant requires temperate temperatures and high relative humidity, to develop without problems. In addition, there are different species but the best known is Guzmania lingulata (scarlet star) which is orange with red bracts.

Orange flowers: Clivia

These striking flowers are non-woody perennials, with dark green leaves, long and narrow that produce clusters of red or orange flared flowers at the end of a long stem. Of the six known species, Clivia miniata and its hybrid varieties are the most cultivated, with flowers that oscillate between dark orange-red to pale yellow.

The fruit of this plant is a berry that contains from one to fifteen seeds, according to how many of the ovules inside the ovary were fertilized. The seeds of the flower Clivia are naked since they do not present/display episperm or cover of the seed.

Kalanchoe

The beautiful tulips are really easy to recognize thanks to their bulbous characteristics.  This plant has a high number of species, among which the gesneriana and the suaveolens stand out.
